What laundry facilities are at the cottages?

Both the cottages have washing machines and fold away airers. There is also outdoor permanent airer in the fenced garden at Woodend cottage.

What sort of kitchen and cooking equipment do you have?

Both cottages have a variety of good quality equipment for cooking and food preparation. These include; block of knives with a selection of sizes and types, selections of chopping boards, pots and pans of different sizes, mixing bowls, serving bowls, frying pans of different sizes and the main utensils such as colanders, slotted spoons, wooden spoons, garlic press, grater etc. We can't always guarantee that exactly everything stated will be in the cottages when you arrive but we strive to make sure you have a very good selection of equipment to use.

If we rent both cottages together is there anywhere we can eat together?

The main table in Woodend Cottage sits 8 comfortably and 10 at a push. For larger groups we suggest you bring the table and chairs from Holly Cottage as there is plenty of space to add it on the end of the table in Woodend. The outdoor table at Woodend Cottage will seat 10-12 for an informal meal such as a barbeque or buffet style lunch.

Is there a telephone in the cottages?

There is a telephone for incoming calls in Woodend Cottage. You will find the number in the information manual on arrival. Unfortunately there is no telephone at Holly Cottage.

Can we get Internet access when at the cottages?

There is currently wireless internet access at Woodend Cottage. In most instances this also works if you are staying in Holly Cottage but we cannot guarantee that you will have access because the box is held in the other cottage.

There is no charge for the Wifi access but we do not advertise this service because we cannot guarantee that you will always have access. If there is no access then we are very sorry but it is possible that we will not be able to do anything about this.

Do you provide bed linen?

Yes. We provide all basic bed linen including sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases. If you require extra sheets or blankets then we would ask that you let us know in advance or on arrival and we will provide them for you.

Do you provide towels?

Yes. We provide sets of bath towels and face flannels in both cottages.

Do you provide washing up cloths, towels and liquid?

We try to provide these items for every stay as a courtesy and to allow you to settle in quickly and comfortably. Sometimes we are unable to provide all the items necessary because of circumstances during the changeover process. For this reason we do not advertise this as included. If you arrive and you do not have all the items you require then we are sorry - we will have done all we can.

Do we have to pay extra for gas heating and electricity?

No. All heating and electricity costs are included in the price. Woodend Cottage is heated with gas central heating and Holly Cottage with electric radiators. You will be given instructions on arrival for setting timers and heating levels. We do ask that you try not to leave radiators and electricity on unnecessarily but that is purely for environmental reasons.No. All heating and electricity costs are included in the price.

Can we use the open fires? And if so where do we get the coal and wood?

Woodend Cottage has an open fire in the lounge and Holly Cottage has a wood burning stove. We provide you with a basket of logs and some coal on arrival. You can buy extra coal and logs from the petrol station approx. 3 mins walk away or at various shops in Dunoon.

Are the cottages suitable for children?

Children are welcome at the cottages. All the rooms in both cottages are on one level and we have provided some basic equipment such as a high chair, plastic bowls, knives and forks land some toys and games. We do make it clear on arrival that the road in front of the cottages does get busy sometimes and there is a low wall and gates that will often be open during your stay. We ask that you make yourselves aware with this on arrival.

Do you allow smoking in the cottages?

We do not allow smoking inside the cottages for the comfort of other guests. As a result we ask that you smoke outside and hope that you are able to adhere to this.

Are there lots of stairs and steps in the cottages?

All the cottages are on one level but there are one or two small steps between rooms and in some doorways.

Is there suitable car parking facilities?

There is space for 3 cars at Woodend Cottage and 2 at Holly Cottage. Depending on the situation, there is space for more cars but you will start to block other cars if you bring more into the driveways. Please also note that the two cottages use the same driveway and parking areas so we ask that you consider other guest's access when parking.

Do you allow pets in the cottages?

We would prefer not to have pets in the cottages because we have family members with allergies. We will consider some pets so please get in touch to ask.

What time is check in?

Check in will be from 4pm on the day of arrival. In some cases we will be able to let you in earlier so please let me know if you plan to arrive earlier and we will see what we can do.

What time is check out?

Check out is at 10am on the day of departure. In some cases we will be able to let you stay on longer so please get in touch and we will see what we can do.
